Kansas State midfielder Adah Anderson dribbles downfield during a non-conference game against Texas-San Antonio on Aug. 24, 2023, at Buser Family Park. Anderson scored K-State69传媒檚 lone goal on Sunday versus UCF.聽

Kansas State soccer owned possession for much of Sunday69传媒檚 match and the Wildcats came away with a 1-1 draw with UCF at Buser Family Park.

The Wildcats are still winless in their last seven matches, but Sunday's result is the first non-loss since 0-0 tie at Arkansas State on September 5. The draw also snaps an eight-match Big 12 match losing streak that stretches back to the 2023 season.

69传媒(We) just (need to) play the way we're capable of playing," head coach Mike Dibbini said in a written statement. "Focus on us, things that we need to do to be successful. I felt like we had a good game plan, we prepared well. I thought 89 minutes we were solid, effective, we just fell asleep for a minute. But overall, that was a good game.69传媒

K-State (3-7-2, 0-4-1 Big 12) dominated possession for a majority of the first half and were rewarded for their efforts in the 43rd minute. Deep in UCF territory, sophomore Morgan Struttmann played a ball to senior Adah Anderson who found herself alone from 17 yards just outside the left post. Anderson69传媒檚 left-footed shot went into the right side of the net for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.

69传媒淚 (was) just trying to get shots up," Anderson said. "We69传媒檝e kind of struggled with that and so that was really a focus. And I think that stat line, at least at halftime, I don69传媒檛 know what it was at the end of the game, we did a really good job putting shots up. So just trying to find a way even though I was probably not supposed to go up that high, I kind of wanted to get a goal for us and it worked.69传媒

This was Struttmann69传媒檚 team-leading third assist of the season, while Anderson tallied her first goal of the season.

The Wildcats outshot the Knights in the opening half, 10-4, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

UCF (3-2-4, 1-1-2 Big 12) knotted the match at one in the 71st minute. A scramble for a loose ball at the top of K-State69传媒檚 18-yard box resulted in UCF69传媒檚 Mia Asenjo finding possession at 17 yards on the right post. Her shot attempt skimmed the grass and found the net just inside the left post.

K-State ended the afternoon with a 20-11 advantage in total shots and a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. The Wildcats also registered a 6-2 lead in corner kicks.

69传媒淲e69传媒檝e been working a little bit on our combination play in the final third and we saw a little bit of that today," Dibbini said. "We need to do a little bit better job of cutting the ball back a little bit more instead of square. But I thought overall we had our chances today, especially when you see 20 shots on goal.69传媒

Wildcat junior goalkeeper Murphy Sheaff made four saves on the day.

K-State has the midweek off before making a quick trip to Ames, Iowa, next Sunday to face Iowa State at 1 p.m., at the Cyclone Sports Complex. That match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
