Utah was a near-unanimous top pick in this week69传媒檚 Big 12 Power Rankings.

The unbeaten Utes received 15 of a possible 16 first-place votes from a panel of media who regularly cover the Big 12, including 69传媒 Mercury sports editor Tim Everson.

Iowa State climbed to No. 2 this week, while BYU made the biggest jump of the week from ninth to third and received the other first-place vote.

1.Utah

Porter leads the Cyclones with two picks and has also blocked a punt.

Utah excels at everything Arizona struggles with, including running the ball, rushing defense and penalties. It could be another long night for Arizona.

In a wild return to the Big 12 69传媒 after 13 years in the Pac-12 69传媒 Colorado rallied to tie Baylor on the last play of regulation with a Hail Mary pass and then won it in overtime with a forced fumble at the goal line. Stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter were great once again, but they had plenty of help as CU won a conference opener for the first time since 2020. Defensively, the Buffs remain stout after halftime, giving up just 19 second-half points this year.

11. West Virginia

The Mountaineers get a much-needed open week before a three-game stretch that includes No. 20 Oklahoma State, No. 18 Iowa State and No. 23 Kansas State. Coach Neal Brown said one key area that needs improvement is ball security. West Virginia is minus-5 in turnover margin this season, which is tied for 118th nationally.

12. Cincinnati

The Bearcats had their most complete game under Scott Satterfield as they jumped out to a comfortable 24-0 halftime lead on the Cougars, then were able to play their bench in the fourth quarter on their way to the 34-0 victory. Brendan Sorsby was 12-for-15 passing with two touchdown tosses to Xzavier Henderson in the first half and a third-quarter touchdown run. It was Satterfield69传媒檚 first Big 12 win at Nippert Stadium.

Baylor69传媒檚 overtime loss to Colorado will sting for a while. After playing some of their best football for 59 minutes and leading into the final seconds, the Bears gave up a Hail Mary to the Buffs with no time on the clock to go to overtime, where they fumbled the potential game-tying touchdown at the goal line. Baylor will have to respond on Saturday when it welcomes red-hot BYU to McLane Stadium, where it is 2-0 this season.

Houston continued its offensive struggles, becoming the first Power Four school to be shutout this season. Coach Willie Fritz says Donovan Smith will remain the starter, although backup Zeon Chriss is expected to see action against Iowa State as the Cougars search for a spark. Houston ranks near the bottom in every major offensive statistical category, including 13.0 points per game.
